Court orders temporary seizure of monument to Pavle Đurišić from Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery, police did not find it there

(Patria) - The non-trial panel of the Basic Court in Berane upheld the appeal of the local Basic Prosecutor's Office and decided to temporarily seize the memorial to the Chetnik commander and war criminal Pavle Đurišić from the superior of the Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery, into whose residence it was moved from the church in the Berane village of Gornje Zaostro.

The president of the court, Ivan Došljak, explained the decision by stating that the memorial could be evidence in the criminal proceedings against Vujadin Dobrašinović, on whose property in Gornje Zaostro the monument to Đurišić was illegally erected on August 7.

In accordance with the court decision, the superior of the Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery is obliged to hand over the monument to the police, and if he refuses, he will be fined 1000 euros or ultimately imprisoned.

According to the same decision, the seized monument is entrusted to the Regional Security Center North, Berane Security Department. The decision is executed by the Police Directorate – Regional Center North, Berane Security Department.

Berane police acted on the court's decision, but did not find the monument to the Chetnik vojvoda in the part of the monastery complex they searched.

The police were met by the abbot and superior of the Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery, Danilo Trpčevski Romanov, who allowed police officers to search the residence, but they did not find the monument there. The abbot then contacted the Metropolitan of the Serbian Church, Metodije Ostojić, who told the police that there were rooms in the monastery to which only he had the key, said a source from the top of the police who is well acquainted with the events in Berane.

Metodije allegedly told the police that the order should be addressed to the superior of the monastery, i.e. him, and not to the abbot who is the superior of the residence, because only he has access to some of the rooms.

The police immediately informed the court about the new situation and are awaiting its reaction, said the Vijesti source.

He also said that Romanov apologized to the police officers who came to the scene for the videos he posted on social media in which he insulted the police who were in front of the monastery a few days ago, and in the meantime deleted those posts.
