Students blocked bridge in Podgorica: We no longer seek resignations, but dismissals of Šaranović and Bečić

(Patria) - Organized by the informal student group “Kamo śutra” (Where tomorrow), the Blažo Jovanović bridge in Podgorica was blocked for an hour today because they did not receive, as they say, concrete answers from Prime Minister Milojko Spajić regarding their demands.

They are seeking the dismissal of the Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović and the Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Aleksa Bečić, demilitarization of society, confiscation and destruction of illegal and hidden weapons, as well as a review of all permits for weapon possession, better functioning of police structures, and improved mental health care.

The representative of the group “Kamo śutra” Marko Vukčević read a letter they sent to Spajić, in relation to the response he sent them. They stated that the blockades will continue until their demands are met, and that they will inform the public about further steps tomorrow.

“Where is the responsibility for the crime that occurred. Who will be held accountable for the fact that after the crime in Medovina, nothing was done to prevent such a crime from happening again. The blockades will continue until the demands are met,” said the organizers.

Those gathered were playing because, as they say, the authorities do not take them seriously.

Messages were left on the bridge railing: “Let’s stay brave, loud, and panicked. Together for a better tomorrow. We love you,” “Smart people don’t stay silent,” “We are with you”…

The informal student group “Kamo śutra” previously called on Spajić to organize a press conference by February 1st, one month after the tragedy in Cetinje, at which he would express clear positions on their demands and inform the public about everything that has been done since January 1st to improve the safety of all citizens in Montenegro.

In Spajić’s response to the students, it was stated, among other things, that all members of the Government are subject to change, after an evaluation of their work and a detailed analysis of their performance. This is not acceptable to the students, reports CDM.
