Students from Belgrade faculties set off on protest march to Novi Sad

(Patria) - Students from Belgrade faculties have set off on a protest march to Novi Sad with the aim of supporting their Novi Sad colleagues, who have announced a blockade of all city bridges for 1 February, marking three months since the accident at the railway station in that city.

The gathering of students began at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) in Belgrade, from where they headed towards the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies, where they will pause for 15 minutes to pay tribute to those who died in the collapse of the canopy at the reconstructed railway station in Novi Sad.

Citizens also came in front of the FDU to see off the students, and traffic on Bulevar umetnosti in front of the faculty has been closed.

Media report that the column of students, which will be followed by the police, will also be secured by farmers on tractors and bikers.

It is planned that during the march, students will take several breaks and spend the night in Inđija.

Students in blockade have called on citizens to join them, with their own organisation of necessary resources.

Belgrade students have announced that they will also set off for Novi Sad on bicycles on Friday.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić stated this morning that members of his department will "fully secure" the route of the student march from Belgrade to Novi Sad.
