Horrific accident in Belgrade: Drunk driver with BiH plates runs red light in Audi and kills family of three

(Patria) - Three people were killed and two were injured in a serious accident that occurred 45 minutes after midnight in New Belgrade.

Serbian media report that the accident happened when two cars collided at the intersection of two streets.

Three people died at the scene, and an ambulance transported two injured individuals to the emergency center.

According to unofficial information, one car ran a red light and directly hit another car – in which three people died.

A large number of police and fire crews, as well as an ambulance team, were present at the scene.



Telegraf reports that the deceased were a nine-year-old boy, his mother (38), and his father (43).

The accident, as they state, was caused by a driver who, in an Audi with BiH license plates, drove through a red light while drunk and hit a Hyundai that had the green light. The impact was violent from the side, and there was no escape for the family.

The driver who caused the accident is only 24 years old and sustained minor injuries. A passenger in the car with him was seriously injured.

A breathalyzer test was immediately administered, and it was determined that the driver of the Audi who caused the accident was drunk.

By order of the prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, he was detained for up to 48 hours.
