(Patria) - The bodies of two dead newborns were found near Varaždin. They were buried in the yard of a family home. Their parents have been detained.

After local media reported that the bodies of two babies were found in the yard of a house in the municipality of Ljubešćica, the Varaždin police confirmed that they are conducting a criminal investigation into two individuals in cooperation with the County State's Attorney's Office.

"Police officers of the Varaždin Police Department received a report of suspicion of committing the criminal offense of 'Violation of a child's rights' in the area of the municipality of Ljubešćica.

Local media reported that the bodies of two babies were found in the yard of a house in the village of Ljubelj Kalnički, in the municipality of Ljubešćica in Varaždin County.

The Deputy County State's Attorney in Varaždin, Darko Galić, did not wish to officially confirm this at the moment when asked by Hina.

"I cannot say anything about it yet, nor that there are two babies. The police are conducting investigative actions and will send a statement," said Galić.

The mayor of the Municipality of Ljubešćica, Nenad Horvatić, told Hina that the bodies of two babies were found and that their parents were arrested.
