'Serbian World' in Slovenia: Golob Hiding Dodik's Money Behind Talk of the US and Government 'Unwillingness'!?

By: Amina Čorbo-Zećo

The Slovenian government will not consider imposing sanctions on Milorad Dodik today. Although the decision has been formally prepared, everything indicates that the measures will be limited to a travel ban, with assets and business ties remaining untouched.

Lies from Ljubljana and deceptions by Golob's government go beyond polite diplomatic evasions in front of the public. It is completely clear that the 'Serbian World' in Slovenia is as alive as it is in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. But Golob, the 'polished leftist,' must find a way to clear himself before Brussels. So, they started with deceptions by media close to the ruling party, claiming that Washington is not in favor of it!?

We remind Slovenians that the United States of America has been losing focus on the Balkans in recent years, with Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and China taking precedence. The Balkans remain in the 'periphery of interest' category, where Washington is satisfied with declarations and occasional pressure, without real engagement.

Therefore, the story about 'American pressure on Ljubljana' seems like a smokescreen. This will be evident today. The Slovenian government is not ready to give up capital linked to Dodik.

Simply put, the hypocrisy hidden behind the 'big brother' and the claim that they are waiting for the US stance has been exposed. The core problem is clear – domestic economic interests and capital from Republika Srpska that has ended up in Slovenia.

The Slovenian public considers this topic marginal, but pressure for sanctions primarily comes from European institutions and security services, while some Social Democrats still see Dodik as a 'positive actor.'

The money that Dodik has pumped into Slovenia – along with the capital of Serbian tycoons in the EU – potentially 'contaminates' the political scene, both right and left. Golob knows this, and he is preparing for a wedding; the registrar will be interesting!

Therefore, the conclusion is clear: the Slovenian government is not ready to impose sanctions on Dodik. And even if they do impose them in two or three weeks, the capital will either remain untouched or be consolidated (hidden). Whatever they do will be half-hearted. The travel ban is a symbolic gesture to the international public. The real interests – money and political-economic ties – will remain untouched.
