Serbian national fined and expelled from Croatia for t-shirt with Greater Serbian symbols

(Patria) - Police officers of the Metković Border Police Station have completed criminal investigations against a 32-year-old Serbian national for committing an offense under Article 5 of the Law on Misdemeanors against Public Order and Peace.

The aforementioned man approached the border control at the Nova Sela Border Crossing on the evening of May 10, as a passenger in a car.

During the border control procedure and the collection of biometric data, police officers noticed that the person was wearing a t-shirt with inscriptions and symbols glorifying Greater Serbian ideas.

The described behavior constitutes the elements of Article 5 of the Law on Misdemeanors against Public Order and Peace, as public order and peace were disturbed in a public place by wearing and displaying symbols.

The t-shirt in question was confiscated with a receipt, and the 32-year-old was arrested and brought to the Misdemeanor Department of the Municipal Court in Metković with a charge proposal.

Following the proceedings, the court issued a legally binding verdict, finding the man guilty and imposing a fine of 2,000 euros.

Furthermore, police officers of the Metković Border Police Station conducted proceedings in accordance with the Aliens Act, which resulted in a decision on expulsion from the European Economic Area with a ban on entry and residence in Croatia for a period of two years.

The Serbian national was denied entry into Croatia after the court verdict became legally binding.
