US President Donald Trump previously stated that he was considering a limited military strike to pressure Iran to agree to a nuclear deal.
Hundreds of American soldiers were evacuated from bases in Qatar, to Bahrain, where the US Navy's Fifth Fleet is stationed.
Trump emphasized in his statements that he remains committed to finding a diplomatic solution, in which Iran would agree to new restrictions on its nuclear program, but he repeatedly warned that he would use the military if a diplomatic solution was not reached.
Both Germany and Sweden called on their citizens to leave Iran and recommended against traveling to that country due to increased tensions in the region.
