(Patria) - A large rally called "Let's Meet on Sretenje" is being held in Kragujevac today. It was called by students, but a large number of citizens from all over Serbia are expected to attend. At 9:00 AM, the large Sretenje student protest officially began in Kragujevac. A large number of citizens are already on the city streets, and the rally will last until 00:07, with the possibility of it lasting longer.
For this occasion, three columns of students arrived in Kragujevac on Friday evening – cyclists, marathon runners, and those who walked.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić did not attend the central ceremony marking Statehood Day in Orašac, but Prime Minister Miloš Vučević addressed the rally as his "envoy".
Outgoing Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević today invited students, professors, deans, and rectors to appoint their representatives and come to talk with the government, with the president of the country, noting that they have an "absolutely open invitation" to do so whenever they wish and on whatever topic they wish.
Vučić, as announced, will be in Sremska Mitrovica this evening, at a counter-rally organized by the SNS.
The roads to Kragujevac are clogged with cars arriving for the rally.
According to media reports from Serbia, a large number of buses with Bosnian license plates were seen entering Sremska Mitrovica today. It is assumed that they transported people to the Serbian Progressive Party rally, which will be held in that city starting at 5 PM today. At the same time, columns of cars are moving in the opposite direction, towards Kragujevac, where the student protest "Let's Meet on Sretenje" is taking place.
