(Patria) - Member of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly Jasmin Šaljić warned of a renewed wave of bomb threats in schools, a problem that, as he points out, has been recurring for years and seriously undermines the security and daily lives of citizens.
According to Šaljić, such threats have significant consequences – from alarming children, parents, and teaching staff, to disruptions in classes and additional engagement of police officers and bomb disposal teams, which also entails considerable financial costs.
"Despite the frequency of these cases, concrete and systemic measures are still lacking. The public does not have access to key information – who the perpetrators are, how many cases have been solved, and what sanctions have been imposed," warns Šaljić.
He has submitted a parliamentary question to the KS Government and the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs, requesting that the public be provided with data for the last ten years, including the number of threats, the rate of solved cases, imposed sanctions, as well as an overview of past and planned preventive measures.
Šaljić emphasizes that the lack of transparent information contributes to the perception of impunity and institutional inefficiency.
"The best prevention is to clearly show that perpetrators are identified and sanctioned. Without this, this phenomenon will continue to disturb citizens and disrupt the educational process," he stated.
The parliamentary question will also be submitted in written form.
