Extravagant Karić seeks more money for representation: Even the Budget rebalance is not enough for her, is there misuse of public resources?

(Patria) - The Sarajevo City Council unanimously adopted the rebalance of the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for 2024 on March 28, 2024. Even the rebalance was not enough for Mayor Benjamina Karić, so at the beginning of August she informed the Finance Service that they plan to reallocate budget items within the law because the allocated funds (otherwise increased by the rebalance) have already been spent.

So, Karić has already spent what she planned, then increased it through the rebalance, and now she wants thousands more marks.



In fact, Karić is requesting that from the budget line 613.400 Procurement of materials and small inventory – Procurement of flags and stands, which has 6,000 KM, 4,000 KM be transferred to budget line 613900 – Protocol representation services – Tickets for the cable car and the City Hall for city guests.

Incidentally, the Budget rebalance set this Protocol representation item at 210,000 KM.

According to unconfirmed information from Patria, Karić plans to take pensioners to Trebević, thus conducting a campaign for the position of mayor of Novo Sarajevo. In this way, Karić has joined the extravagance of the FBiH Government, which buys luxury cars, while oncology patients die because the necessary medicines were not procured on time.

Incidentally, the Budget of the City of Sarajevo for Contracted and other special services allocated funds in the amount of 2,573,100 KM, while the rebalance increased this amount by 657,138 KM, so it now totals 3,230,238 KM.

Given the record amount to be paid for the New Year's Eve celebration, the City Council had to allocate additional funds, so they added another 300,000 KM to the planned 500,000 KM, meaning the songs of Sara Jo, Severina, and others will cost Sarajevo citizens a record 800,000 KM.

Karić's increasingly frequent appearances in the media are not free, as she has increased the amount given to the media, so the rebalance determined that the item – expenditures for media information and public relations will amount to 194,000, an increase of 50,000 KM, since the Budget had planned 144,000 KM.

In the absence of adequate projects that should be covered, Karić gave tens of thousands of KM to media close to the Troika (NIP, SDP, and Our Party) for a project to monitor the renovation of facades in Sarajevo!?

Karić has already had a complaint filed with the Central Election Commission for misuse of funds, but she claimed that those funds were already planned in the Budget. However, this new planned extravagant 'project' by Benjamina Karić was not planned either in the Budget or in the Budget rebalance, which could be a misuse of public funds for the needs of the Local Elections campaign.
