Protests in Serbia: Police used tear gas, several arrested, Vučić says everyone will be held accountable

(Patria) - Protests were held in several Serbian cities on Saturday evening, and clashes with the police occurred. In Valjevo, citizens confronted a police cordon that tried to disperse them.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated around midnight that the time for accountability is coming.

Minister of Police Ivica Dačić stated last night that 18 people were arrested.

Dačić said that, "as in previous days, last night there was a drastic disruption of public order and peace and a brutal attack on police forces, as well as the demolition and burning of premises of political parties and state bodies".

There were several incidents in Valjevo, and the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party were demolished, and the buildings of the city administration and the prosecutor's office were damaged. Several demonstrators were arrested.

Members of the police and gendarmerie intervened at several locations, used tear gas, and pushed back demonstrators who were using pyrotechnics and flares.
