Mensad Bašić, recipient of the "Golden Lily" award, has passed away

(Patria) - Mensad (Velija) Bašić, recipient of the highest wartime award "Golden Lily", passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the age of 65, after a battle with a serious illness.

He was born on June 6, 1961, in Kamenica, and during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was a member of the 802nd Light Brigade of the Army of RBiH. His courage, determination, and dedication to the defense of his homeland were recognized in 1995, when he was awarded the "Golden Lily".

The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Vlakovo City Cemetery – Veterans' Alley. The tevhid will be recited on the same day at 11:00 AM in the Grbavica I Mosque (Jordanian).

Mensad Bašić is survived by his wife Gjuleru, daughter Amina, sisters, numerous family members, friends, and comrades who will remember him for his humanity, integrity, and immense courage.
