Two-year-old child dies in Skopje: Hit by a stray bullet

(Patria) - A two-year-old child who was seriously injured during the New Year's Eve celebration died this morning at the Clinic for Pediatric Surgery in Skopje, despite the efforts of doctors, health authorities announced.

According to the results of the investigation so far, the child was outside with his mother at the time of the accident, watching the fireworks, when he was hit by a metal projectile, most likely a stray bullet.

After the incident, the child was urgently transported to the hospital. First, he was treated at the City General Hospital, and due to his extremely serious condition, he was then transferred to the Children's Clinic. Doctors determined severe brain injuries and a life-threatening condition.

The Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an order has been issued for the autopsy of the body of the deceased two-year-old child, in order to determine all the circumstances of the tragedy.
