(Patria) - Several dozen people died in a fire that broke out on Saturday night to Sunday in a nightclub in North Macedonia, reported the official news agency MIA, citing the Ministry of Interior of that country.
At least 50 people died in a nightclub in Kočani, in the east of the country, about 100 kilometers east of the capital Skopje, where "about 1500 people attended a concert", reported MIA, citing the Ministry of Interior.
The club in question is Club Pulse, where DJs and singers perform on weekends. The fire broke out around 3 AM. Firefighters fought the fire for hours, and it is suspected that lighting effect devices caused it.
A large number of injured people have been admitted to hospitals, and appeals from parents and family members searching for their loved ones are spreading on social media. Parents are gathering in front of hospitals seeking information about their children.
This is one of the biggest tragedies to have occurred in North Macedonia.
