(Patria) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia Josip Dabro resigned after a video was published showing him firing a pistol to folk music near a populated area.
"During my term, I was guided by a clear vision and determination to introduce much-needed changes in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector, fighting against irregularities and establishing transparent and fair relations in my department. However, in that process, I faced significant pressures and threats, and I am currently under police protection," Dabro stated.
He emphasizes that although he is ready to continue the fight for the improvement of the sector he led, he is aware that the circumstances he finds himself in create an additional burden for the Government.
"As a responsible person and public official, I believe that my personal situation should not divert attention from the key priorities of the Government and the sector, nor slow down further necessary reforms. Therefore, with full conviction that this is the best decision for the common good, I am stepping down from my position," he pointed out.
