MPs wrote to Prime Minister Spajić and the Government of Montenegro: Make a decision on co-sponsoring the Srebrenica Resolution

(Patria) - Thirty-five MPs of the Montenegrin Parliament sent a letter to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, calling on the Government to make a decision on co-sponsoring the proposal for a Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica without further delay.

"The text of the letter sent to the Government of Montenegro was offered for signature to MPs from all parliamentary clubs in the Parliament, except for MPs from the former Democratic Front, who deny that genocide occurred in Srebrenica," Nikolić wrote.

As a reminder, the vote on the proposal for a Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, which was planned for May 2, was postponed in the UN General Assembly. Member states of the UN were given the opportunity for additional suggestions regarding the final text of the document.

The Resolution, among other things, stipulates that July 11 will be observed annually as the "International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide committed in Srebrenica in 1995".

It also condemns the denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals, while encouraging UN member states to preserve judicially established facts through educational systems, in order to prevent revisionism and the recurrence of genocide.
