Indictment filed against former deputy mayor of Zadar Ivica Vlakić for attempted murder

(Patria) - The County State Attorney's Office in Zadar has filed an indictment against 47-year-old former deputy mayor of Zadar Ivica Vlakić for attempted murder.

The accused 47-year-old, as stated on the official website of the County State Attorney's Office in Zadar, is charged with committing the said criminal offense on November 11, 2023, around 7 p.m., in a family home in Zadar where he lives with his mother.

After his brother came to the house to visit their mother, the accused is charged with, following a verbal and then physical altercation with him, intending to kill him, taking a knife and inflicting multiple stab and stab-cut wounds on the victim.

The victim sustained multiple severe bodily injuries, and a fatal outcome was avoided due to a combination of circumstances, prompt medical intervention, and surgery, according to the official statement of the Zadar State Attorney's Office.

The State Attorney's Office has proposed extending the investigative detention for Ivica Vlakić due to the risk of repeating the criminal offense.
