
(Patria) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Ervin Ibrahimović announced today that the first evacuation flight of Montenegrin citizens from the Middle East has been successfully organized.
Ibrahimović says that a second charter flight from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is also expected.
- The first evacuation flight of our citizens has been successfully organized. An airplane with over 70 passengers departed from the airport in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, towards Podgorica - Ibrahimović said.
He specified that the flight includes Montenegrin citizens who were on tourist visits to Jordan and Egypt, and that the Government of Montenegro, in cooperation with the national airline, managed to organize charter transport.
- On this flight are our citizens who were on tourist visits to Jordan and Egypt, for whom the Government of Montenegro, together with Air Montenegro, managed to organize a charter flight - Ibrahimović stated.
He also announced additional activities for the evacuation of Montenegrin citizens.
- I am pleased to announce the organization of another charter flight with Fly Dubai, which will transport all interested Montenegrin citizens, approximately 160 of them, from the UAE to Podgorica tomorrow - Ibrahimović emphasized.
Speaking about the security situation, he warned of the deteriorating circumstances in the Middle East region. He says that, unfortunately, we are witnessing an escalation of the security situation and rising tensions in the countries of the Middle East.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which I head, is making maximum efforts, in constant communication with our colleagues from Montenegrin embassies, relevant consulates, and honorary consuls, to ensure timely communication and provide necessary assistance to our citizens in the Gulf countries who wish to return to Montenegro - Ibrahimović conveyed.
He called on Montenegrin citizens to follow official information.
- I take this opportunity to call on our citizens to follow the service information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the instructions of the local authorities - Ibrahimović stated.
He expressed his expectation that the situation will calm down.
- I hope that the situation will de-escalate as soon as possible and that our citizens will soon be safely accommodated in their homes - Ibrahimović concluded.
