(Patria) - Former military policeman Krešimir Pahoki killed his mother, an employee of the Home for the Elderly and Infirm in Daruvar, as well as three other residents in a killing spree around 10 AM.

Seven more people were injured and wounded, and are receiving medical assistance.

After the attack, the killer fled, but was soon apprehended by the police.

Pahoki is a retired military policeman. In 1996, Franjo Tuđman decorated him with the Homeland Gratitude Medal, which is awarded to Croatian citizens for honorable and exemplary service.

Pahoki had problems with alcohol and had already caused certain incidents.

The Chief State Attorney Ivan Turudić also arrived in Daruvar.

This unprecedented crime has been condemned by numerous officials, including Croatian President Zoran Milanović, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and ministers in the Croatian Government.
