Trial begins for terrorist attack in Banjska

(Patria) - A hearing for the "Banjska case" has begun at the Basic Court in Pristina, based on the indictment of the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo against 45 individuals suspected of being part of an armed group that attacked the Pristina police.

In addition to the former Vice-President of the Srpska Lista party, Milan Radoičić, the accused include Dušan Maksimović, Blagoje Spasojević, and Vladimir Tolić, who were arrested after the terrorist attack in Banjska on September 24 last year and have been in custody since.

Family members of the accused, injured parties, lawyers Miloš Delević, Jovana Filipović, and Ljubomir Pantović, as well as a large number of media outlets are attending the hearing, reports "Kosovo online".

Three Serbs - Igor Milenković, Bojan Mijailović, and Stefan Nedeljković - as well as police officer Afrim Bunjaku were killed in the attack on the Kosovo police in Banjska.

The prosecutor requested that the others mentioned in the indictment who are not attending the hearing be tried in absentia.

Lawyer Ljubomir Pantović, one of the defense attorneys for the accused, pointed out that a trial in absentia for 42 individuals is not possible, adding that the decision rests with the court.
