Protests begin in Belgrade, citizens arrive, Vučić announces violence

(Patria) - The student protest "See You on Vidovdan" is scheduled for today at 6 PM at Slavija Square in Belgrade.

The protests are being broadcast live on the organizer's channel

According to the protest program, 16 minutes of silence for the 16 victims of the canopy collapse at the railway station in Novi Sad will be held at 7:11 PM, followed by the national anthem at 7:27 PM, after which the first block of student speeches begins, the awarding of the Red Peony prize, two more blocks of speeches, and at 9 PM the deadline for fulfilling demands addressed to the Government of Serbia.

Arrival by car from various parts of Serbia has been planned and organized, while railway traffic to Belgrade will be suspended, after the railways halted traffic on Friday due to an alleged bomb threat on all tracks and trains.

The end of the student program is scheduled for 9:20 PM. Civil initiatives have called for staying at Slavija Square after 9 PM.

President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić stated today that Serbia has "marked the end of terror" and that "there is nothing more the blockers can do to change that."

"It is not over when the blockers say it is over; it is over when Serbia says it is over. And Serbia has marked the end of terror. And there is nothing the blockers can do to change that," Brnabić said on social network X.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated on Saturday that he expects violence, assessing that "it is impossible for someone to invest enormous money against a country and not at least try something."
