24-hour blockade of Autokomanda in Belgrade begins, professors, actors, citizens join students

(Patria) - Today from 10 AM, a 24-hour blockade of Autokomanda, i.e., the interchange at Franš D'Eperea, has begun. Students have invited citizens to join them and stated that shifts will last four hours each. They appealed to everyone to adhere to the agreed rules and follow the instructions of the stewards to contribute to preserving the safety of those present.

They stated that the organization of the blockade is conceived as a peaceful protest that sends a clear message, "but must not lead to incidents or unnecessary risks." Students came to Autokomanda in two groups - from Studentski trg and from Bulevar kralja Aleksandra. They previously met at Slavija. Students from the Faculty of Agriculture, accompanied by tractors, set out from Zemun to meet them. The students asked citizens not to go onto the highway, nor onto the tram tracks.

It was announced that at 11:52 AM, they will organize 15 minutes of silence for those who perished in the collapse of the canopy at the Railway Station in Novi Sad.

At 8:00 PM, a reading of the students' demands will be organized, which include determining responsibility for that accident, as well as prosecuting all those who attacked students during previous gatherings.

Student stewards have surrounded Autokomanda and all access streets, and they are being assisted by bikers with parked motorcycles, as well as traffic police.
