(Patria) - Officers of PNUSKOK arrived on Friday morning with search warrants at the address of Croatian Minister of Health Vili Beroš and several high-ranking doctors, reports Croatian Nacional.
According to initial information, the target of the investigators, in addition to the minister, includes several high-ranking doctors, among them directors of some hospitals.
USKOK officially confirmed that this is their operation.
“The arrests and the conduct of urgent evidentiary actions are the result of an investigation previously conducted by USKOK.
These actions are being carried out in the area of Zagreb and Skradin against several persons, one of whom is a high-ranking state official, who are reasonably suspected of having committed criminal offenses of corruption.
After questioning the suspects, USKOK will decide on further proceedings in this case and will inform the public in a timely manner,” USKOK stated.
As Jutarnji list unofficially learns, the operation is being conducted on the order of USKOK.
It concerns the procurement of dual microscopes for neurosurgery, which were allegedly significantly overpaid.
According to unofficial information, one of the arrested doctors is the head of the Clinic for Neurosurgery at the Sisters of Mercy University Hospital Center, Prof. Dr. Sc. Krešimir Rotim.
