(Patria) - Zoran Milanović, with over a million votes, swept away HDZ candidate Dragan Primorac.
The State Election Commission at 8:50 PM published new provisional results of the second round of presidential elections. Zoran Milanović (SDP and partners) won 74.58% (1,095,418), and Dragan Primorac (HDZ and partners) won 25.42% (373,400) of the votes.
98.65% of polling stations have been processed.
Croatian citizens decided today who will lead the country for the next five years. 3,769,000 voters are eligible to vote, and voting is conducted at 6,650 polling stations in Croatia and 105 abroad. The largest number of voters outside the country are expected in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany.
The first polling stations opened yesterday at 9 PM Croatian time in Australia, and the last ones opened today in Los Angeles at 4 PM our time.
Interestingly, Croatian Prime Minister and HDZ leader Andrej Plenković did not congratulate Milanović, but instead sought excuses for the catastrophic defeat of Primorac.
