Plenković on the situation in BiH: We are extremely concerned

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković commented on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We are extremely concerned. Croatia's position is to respect and honor the neighboring country. We want it to be functional, based on the foundations of the Dayton Agreement, that the Constitution of BiH be respected, and equally so the decisions of all bodies in BiH. We want to avoid any escalation of relations - said Plenković.

According to his words, Croatia wants BiH to continue its path towards EU membership.

- We will talk with our partners. What we want to see is a calming of this situation, which today has raised the tone in a rhetorical sense.

Given the global circumstances, we believe that these tones should be lowered - Plenković responded to questions about whether Croatia will react diplomatically or remain in the position of an observer in the situation with the neighboring country.

As for EU sanctions against the Republic of Srpska due to Milorad Dodik, Plenković did not comment on that, but only said that Croatia and its partners will strive to act in a conciliatory manner.
