(Patria) - A meeting of the Presidency of the Croatian HDZ was held in Zagreb tonight, after which the party president and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković addressed journalists.
- We analyzed the results, of course we are not satisfied, but we have taken note of them - said Plenković.
He confirmed that no one from HDZ will attend the inauguration of the new/old President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović.
- We have just made a decision not to attend the inauguration. We will not allow ourselves to be in a situation where we listen to Milanović swearing allegiance to the Constitution which he then violates - he said.
He added that tonight's meeting did not discuss responsibility, but the results.
- We are starting to prepare for local elections and now all focus is on that - he added.
Journalists were interested in whether he would accept Milanović's hand of cooperation.
- Five years ago, I called Milanović when he was first elected president. He did not congratulate us when HDZ won the elections.
Such messages from a man with this pattern of behavior, we cannot perceive such a message as sincere. We think a congratulation is pointless.
And now we come to an absurd situation - we would have to listen to a violator of the Constitution swear allegiance to the Constitution. Neither I nor the Speaker of the Parliament will attend the inauguration - Plenković emphasized.
He says that in HDZ they respect the will of the voters, they will cooperate within constitutional frameworks, "but hypocrisy, listening to Milanović swear allegiance after violating the Constitution, that is out of the question".
