(Patria) - It is not a question of whether Croatia will recognize Palestine, but when it will do so, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated yesterday.
He added that recent recognitions by other countries have not resulted in stronger pressure towards a ceasefire.
- The only possible, long-term, and real solution is a two-state solution - Plenković reiterated in Split, but emphasized that the conditions for this to happen have not yet been met in practice.
He stated that he had somewhat followed the speech of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN General Assembly - which showed that further political pressure through unilateral recognition of Palestine, intended to achieve a ceasefire and agreement, has not succeeded.
Plenković said that the question of Croatian recognition is not a question of yes or no - but when.
He adds that Croatia is discussing peace in the Middle East with various parties, which includes inviting the Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs to attend the conference of Croatian ambassadors, a visit by the Israeli Foreign Minister to Zagreb, or official trips by the Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman to Jordan and Syria.
