Pešić: If anyone is genocidal, it is personally Vučić

(Patria) - I don't know why Aleksandar Vučić considers himself a moral victor regarding the adopted UN Resolution, which he falsified - that it qualifies the entire Serbian people as genocidal.

Such a campaign is inherently immoral, as it is clear that genocide verdicts were issued against individuals, not the Serbian people, stated former ambassador and sociologist Vesna Pešić for Danas.

It is also immoral, she adds, that he used his falsification about the so-called genocidal nation for his personal promotion and consolidation of authoritarian power, positioning himself as the defender of Serbia and the Serbian people.

- And this coincided with the election campaign. That lie came at a good time. He still claims that the Resolution "brands the victims as a genocidal nation".

By doing so, he covers himself as someone who considers the perpetrators of genocide as Serbian heroes, both when the genocide in Srebrenica occurred and three decades later, while holding the office of President of Serbia - says Pešić.

She points out that Vučić did not hide his love for the perpetrator of genocide in Srebrenica - Ratko Mladić, as a prominent member and one of the leaders of extreme Serbian nationalism.

- He did not hide his love for the convicted Ratko Mladić; we all saw when he removed the plaque of Zoran Đinđić Boulevard to replace it with the plaque of Ratko Mladić Boulevard.



In the last two years, he could not forget or tactically hide his adoration for Ratko Mladić by erecting his mural, which the police guarded 24 hours a day, and all the walls and fences were inscribed with "Ratko Mladić, Serbian hero".

If it weren't for his personal campaign expressing adoration for the convicted Srebrenica genocide perpetrator, this Resolution would not have come about - believes Pešić.

And now, she says, he immorally and perversely transfers his personal misdeed and glorification of Ratko Mladić onto the entire Serbian people, who have allegedly been declared genocidal.
