Regional Trade Union Council of Education Unions Established

(Patria) - Representative education unions from BiH, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia have established the Regional Trade Union Council of Education Unions "Together for Education" by signing the Founding Charter at a meeting held in Struga.

The goal of establishing the Regional Council is to improve the working, material, and social conditions of workers whose interests are represented by the education unions participating in the Council.

It was agreed that the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of FBiH will organize the first Working Session of "Together for Education".

Through the Council, education unions will cooperate in the following substantive areas:

• Developing solidarity between education unions and organizing joint actions and campaigns;

• Mutual exchange of experiences and information in all areas of trade union work;

• Organizing expert consultations in the fields of public policies, labor and social legislation, and collective agreements, with the aim of ensuring the highest possible level of labor and social rights;

• Training of trade union representatives;

• Establishing and strengthening cooperation between territorial forms of trade union organization;

• Exchanging information and experiences in the process of adapting to European Union standards;

• Informing and educating about European Union projects and participating in them;

• Actively promoting and stimulating integration processes in the trade union movement.

The Regional Trade Union Council of Education Unions consists of the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of FBiH, the Independent Union for Education, Science, and Culture of the Republic of Macedonia, the Trade Union of Education of Serbia, the Trade Union of Secondary and Higher Education, Upbringing, Science, and Culture of BiH, the Croatian Teachers' Union, the Union of Workers in Preschool Upbringing and Education of Croatia, the Education Union of Montenegro, and the Union of Upbringing, Education, Science, and Culture of Slovenia.
