Eighth protest in front of the RIK: Students and opposition demand release of detainees

(Patria) - The eighth protest by the "Serbia Against Violence" coalition against electoral irregularities is being held again this evening in front of the building of the Republican Electoral Commission (RIK).

During the day, from 11 AM to 6 PM, a protest by students was held, who, demanding the opening of the voter list, first blocked Birčaninova Street near the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, then Kneza Miloša Street, and then Nemanjina Street near the Government of Serbia.

The students expressed their support for the "Serbia Against Violence" coalition, which called for these protests in order to achieve their demand for the annulment of the elections, due to numerous irregularities.

The students stated that they are prepared to expand the protests throughout Serbia if their demands are not met positively by Wednesday.

They demanded the release of their colleagues who were arrested last night, again called for no violent actions, and stated that "students did not set fire to the wheat".

Also, they insist that representatives of the opposition address them. At this moment, the lights are off in the part of the Presidency building where Vučić sits, as well as across the street, in the parliamentary group "Serbia Against Violence".

Citizens are heading towards the police station in Bulevar despota Stefana, formerly 29. novembra Street, reports Nova.rs reporter.

"We are going to see where our children are," said Srđan Milivojević and called on citizens to follow.

"Aleksandar Vučić, release our children from your prisons. Don't play anymore, Aleksandar Vučić. First, they steal your rivers, then forests, then they steal your pensions, and finally, they steal the elections, and then they wonder why the people are angry. Tonight we are here peacefully and we will remain peaceful, but that will not be forever. Behind us is a wall to which we have been pushed, and in front of us is a police cordon. Who pays for those batons? Who pays for those tear gases?", asked Member of Parliament Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta.
