Osmani: World gives future generations a chance to learn from the lessons of Srebrenica

(Patria) - By adopting the Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide, the world is giving future generations a chance to learn from the lessons of Srebrenica.

This was stated yesterday by Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, emphasizing that recognition of the genocide is a key step towards reconciliation and the fight against genocide denial.

Osmani stated on platform X that recognition is necessary for healing and lasting peace, "providing comfort to the Mothers of Srebrenica and all surviving family members, ensuring that their loved ones will never be forgotten."

"We will remember! On July 11th and every day! With today’s establishment by UNGA of the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide, the world is giving future generations a chance to learn from the lessons drawn from Srebrenica," Osmani wrote yesterday.

To those who worked against the Resolution, she said that genocide denial will never pave the way to peace.

"The voices of those who suffered these horrors as children remind us that ending genocide denial is not only a political and legal obligation, but a collective moral duty.

We must stand united in the fight for truth and justice. Let us be guided by the sharp reminder in the words of an innocent child who asks: 'Mother, soldiers kill children with small bullets, don't they?'" Osmani wrote.
