What happened at Skopje Airport is a violation of international rules

The Presidency of Kosovo said that the way the incident with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani at Skopje Airport last week was treated in Skopje is regrettable.

The Presidency of Kosovo stated in a press release issued today that the way the incident against Kosovo was treated at yesterday's press conference of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and North Macedonia Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in Skopje is regrettable, "because it further contributed to propaganda against Kosovo."

"What happened at Skopje Airport is a clear violation of international rules recognized and applied worldwide, and the Presidency expects to be informed about the measures taken regarding these violations, as highlighted in the protest note sent by Kosovo," the statement said, as reported by Anadolu.

"While we appreciate the apology from the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, unfortunately, to date, no institution of North Macedonia has addressed the issues raised in the protest note regarding the violation of international law concerning the Republic of Kosovo. On the contrary, without any hesitation, they openly accepted such a violation.

There is no need for additional reports and investigations into the factual situation, as they are completely irrelevant in the face of the public acceptance by North Macedonia's institutions that such a rule was imposed deliberately, despite the clear requirements of international law," the Presidency of Kosovo emphasized.

Prime Minister Mickoski said he expects a detailed report on this case and that he regrets it happened.

During the incident at Skopje Airport, a security guard of Skopje Airport (TAV) tried to take the personal phone of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, and after she did not allow it, she was physically pushed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo sent a protest note to North Macedonia regarding this matter. The Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over the misunderstanding that occurred.
