(Patria) - The blockade of the Liberty Bridge in Novi Sad, which was set to last 24 hours, has been extended by another three hours, it was decided at the civil plenum. Citizens unanimously, by raising their hands, voted on the students' proposal.
Exactly at 3:00 PM, when the 24-hour blockade of the Liberty Bridge in Novi Sad expired, the civil plenum began, which was of a performative nature. A steward addressed the gathered crowd from the stage in Novi Sad, stating that there was no possibility to count everyone.
He asked if those present wanted the blockade to last for another three hours, during which the area would be cleaned, after which the blockade would be declared over. The decision was made unanimously, by raising hands.
"Until the students' demands are met, there will be no stopping," said the steward who addressed the gathered students and citizens.
Thousands of people came to Novi Sad on Saturday to support the students blocking all three bridges on the occasion of three months since the collapse of the railway station canopy and the death of 15 people. The gathering, which has been ongoing in Novi Sad for the second day, is proceeding without incident.
Students spent the night on the Liberty Bridge in Novi Sad, and they were guarded by tractors parked at the entrance to the bridge.
An N1 reporter who spent the night with the students reported that the students had set up tents in Liman Park as well, and there were no incidents.
There, they warmed themselves by the fire and listened to music, organized sports activities in the middle of intersections, and in Liman Park, films were watched on a large screen until morning.
