Novi Sad: High school students and citizens protest over tragedy at the train station

(Patria) - A protest was held in the center of Novi Sad in memory of the 15 people who died in the accident at the Train Station. Demonstrators, including high school students from "Jovan Jovanović Zmaj" High School and "Karlovačka gimnazija", expressed sadness and dissatisfaction over the tragedy, as well as indignation towards the authorities for their lack of reaction.

The gathered crowd marched from the Train Station to the City Hall, stopping 15 times for a minute of silence in honor of the victims.

A performance at Liberty Square further marked the protest: artist Andrej Josifovski, known as Pijanista, placed a black mourning band the size of the collapsed station canopy, symbolically highlighting the gravity of the tragedy. Along Boulevard of Liberation, demonstrators left red handprints and wrote "Murderers", demanding accountability from those in charge.

Particular tension arose as the demonstrators passed by the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party, where they chanted "Murderers", while party activists laughed from inside. The protest organizers stated that they will not cease their actions until those responsible for the accident are brought to justice. They particularly emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and accountability of all involved institutions.

The protest, which brought together citizens of all generations, represents a strong message of solidarity and demands for justice, as Novi Sad continues to mourn the lost lives.
