Novi Sad: Entire family perishes in fire, victims include children aged two to seven

(Patria) - A terrible tragedy occurred overnight in Novi Sad, claiming six lives. A fire engulfed a house where a family, consisting of parents and four children, was located.

It has been confirmed that the deceased are members of the family who lived at the address where the fire broke out, and the four children were aged between two and seven: D. A. (29), M. S. (23), E. A. (7), S. S. (5), D. A. (4) and L. A. (2), according to media reports.

Local media in Vojvodina reported that the most likely cause of the fire was a scooter battery.

"It is suspected that the fire was caused by a scooter that was connected to the power grid. The bodies of the victims have been transferred to the Center for Forensic Medicine for autopsy, and members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are working intensively to determine all the circumstances of this tragic event," added Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić.

Doctor Nikolina Marić from the Emergency Service told 021.rs that they arrived at the scene at 2:45 AM, but it was already too late. She stated that they could do nothing except confirm the deaths of several people. A neighbor said he saw the fire and tried to call out to them, but they did not hear him.
