(Patria) - "Serbia, can you hear us?", is the name of the protests being held tonight in Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Valjevo, Užice, Prijepolje and Leskovac, at the call of students and citizens.
Gatherings have also been announced in Novi Pazar, Niš, Prokuplje and Kraljevo.
Students from Novi Sad announced that this protest is a response to "police brutality and violation of the University's autonomy, as well as the unjustified detention of police officers in the buildings of two faculties on the campus."
Students from the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Physical Education (DIF) addressed the thousands gathered.
Let us recall, the wave of protests was initiated by students after the tragedy in November 2024, when 16 people died in the collapse of a canopy at the Novi Sad railway station.
Demonstrators blame the authorities for the accident, and among their main demands are the rule of law, independent institutions, and the calling of early parliamentary elections - which the authorities have so far refused to do.
