New blockades across Serbia: Sporadic incidents on the streets, the biggest one in Zemun

(Patria) - It is the third day of street blockades in Belgrade and other cities in Serbia, after students on blockade called for civil disobedience.

The blockades are mostly peaceful, but with occasional tensions. A blockade of the access roads to the airport in Surčin was announced for 7:00 PM.

A reporter for Euronews Serbia, who was in Surčin, says that at the main intersection leading to the airport, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are negotiating with citizens attempting to occupy it.

Previously, they announced that they would block this intersection and all roads leading to the airport itself.

During today, the demands were reiterated at the mobile blockades, and it was announced that they would last until they are met.

Protesters are demanding the release of all those arrested after the protests on June 28, the removal of the gathering in Pionirski Park, and the calling of early parliamentary elections.

Several incidents were recorded across Belgrade today. The most significant ones occurred on Glavna Street in Zemun, where a person drove a car through the barricades and hit a woman. An ambulance arrived shortly after, and the police intervened. The blockade itself was then dispersed.

Also, during the day, citizens performed a kind of performance in an attempt to maintain their mobile blockades, using what they call the zebra method.

They repeatedly crossed certain pedestrian crossings in Zemun and on Bulevar kralja Aleksandra.

According to the statements and estimates of the students on blockade, ten times more people have been arrested in the last three days compared to the number of those arrested after the canopy collapse in Novi Sad.

According to them, this gives them additional motivation to persevere in their mobile blockades.

The blockades are, incidentally, happening sporadically and intermittently, so they can be formed anywhere. Some media estimates suggest that there were as many as 40 blockades in the previous two days.
