(Patria) - Member of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and former Montenegrin water polo player Nikola Janović has resigned from all positions in that party.
Janović was a member of the DPS Main Board, and until March this year, he also held the position of a member of the DPS Presidency.
Janović will, as confirmed, retain his parliamentary mandate in the Parliament of Montenegro, as an independent member.
"Based on Article 23 of the DPS Statute, I inform you that I am no longer a member of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro. Therefore, my membership in the Main Board also ceases.
I also inform you that the DPS can dispose of my seats in three parliamentary committees: the Committee on Security and Defense, the Committee on Anti-Corruption, and the Committee on International Relations and Emigrants.
I will continue my political engagement as an independent member of parliament. Regardless of the differences we had in our thoughts about the future of DPS, I want to thank you all for your correct and substantive cooperation and wish you all success in your future life and work," reads the decision that Janović shared on platform X.

The Democratic Party of Socialists wished Janović luck in his future work.
They also stated that they see nothing wrong with his decision, and that Janović had a notable engagement, holding the positions of Minister of Sports, Member of Parliament, and member of the Presidency.
