Riots in Novi Sad, police beat citizens with batons

(Patria) - Katarina Milankov, a veterinary student who was part of the team driving to Strasbourg, was beaten in a police attack in front of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Novi Sad.

Serbian media report that tensions have been very high in Novi Sad since this morning. Citizens and students gathered in front of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education to prevent the dean from breaking the blockade.

At one point, the police started beating everyone with batons and sprayed citizens and gathered students with pepper spray.

Several people were injured in the police attack, and the beaten student Katarina Milankov was taken to the hospital by ambulance in an unconscious state.

Her father, who himself received several baton blows, also confirmed that she was injured.
