(Patria) - Journalist Avdo Avdić was denied entry into the Republic of Croatia today at the Gradiška border crossing, with the explanation that his name is on the list of persons banned from entering the country because they pose a threat to national security.
It is scandalous that Avdić, a prominent media figure in Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been classified into the list of persons banned from entering, and the details of the decision and the reasons for his inclusion in the list are not yet known.
The decision will certainly attract public attention, which could see this situation as a serious restriction of journalists' rights and media freedom, and raise the question of on what basis the list of 'undesirables' or 'banned' individuals in Croatia is created.
"Plenković's European standards are identical to Vučić's standards. In short, Milorad Dodik is welcome in Croatia, and Avdo Avdić is not. Besides, this ban confirms that everything I say and write about the activities of SOA and official Zagreb in BiH is true," Avdić stated for the media.
