Car with Serbian license plates and human bone remains burned in Kosovo

(Patria) - In the village of Glavnik, near the Kosovo town of Podujevo, a burned car with Serbian license plates was found containing human bone remains, confirmed by the prosecutor's office in Pristina.

The prosecutor's office announced that the incident occurred yesterday, and that an inspection of the burned car revealed bone remains inside, Serbian media report.

The prosecutor engaged a forensic medicine expert, who determined that these are human remains, and then ordered the police to take all necessary investigative actions to fully clarify the case.

"Given that we are in the initial phase of the case, for now we cannot provide more detailed information on this matter, but the prosecutor is committed to fully clarifying the case in cooperation and coordination with law enforcement authorities," the prosecutor's office statement said.

That the car had Serbian license plates was confirmed to Albanian-language media by the chief prosecutor of Pristina.

- Yes, it is true. It is suspected that human bones are in the vehicle. The car has Serbian license plates. The investigation continues - said the chief prosecutor in Pristina, Zejnulah Gashi, adding that it is still unknown how this incident occurred.

The remains of the burned car were transported to the police station in Podujevo.
