Man dies in fire near Pljevlja

(Patria) - A man identified as V.D. died, while his sister S.D. sustained burns in a fire that broke out in the afternoon hours in the area of the village of Perotin near Pljevlja, in northern Montenegro.

As reported to Radio Television of Montenegro by the Pljevlja Protection and Rescue Service, the injured S.D. was transported to the General Hospital in Pljevlja for treatment.

The commander of the Pljevlja Protection and Rescue Service, Bogdan Bojović, said that the 77-year-old man died while trying to prevent the fire from spreading.

The emergency medical team managed to reach V.D. despite the fire, but, he says, it was too late.

Members of the Pljevlja municipality Protection and Rescue Service are trying to prevent the fire from spreading, which has moved from the meadow and engulfed a larger area of coniferous forest.
