Youth from Serbia and Montenegro visit the Srebrenica Memorial Center

(Patria) - The Youth Initiative for Human Rights from Serbia and the Civic Alliance of Montenegro, as part of the “Srebrenica – exchange program” which includes visits by partner organizations, visited the Srebrenica Memorial Center. The exchange was organized within the project of Sustainability of the Memorial Center, funded by the Government of the United Kingdom.

The program also included an opportunity for participants to tour the museum exhibits of the Memorial Center and learn about important facts regarding the genocide in Srebrenica.

A particularly significant part of the visit was a conversation with the director of the Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić. During the conversation, participants shared experiences and challenges they face due to their clear positions on the genocide in Srebrenica in their societies, where denial of the genocide is an acceptable narrative. Director Suljagić expressed gratitude for their courage and engagement, and emphasized the importance of such exchanges for strengthening
mutual understanding and cooperation among youth in the region.
 
The guests from the region stayed in Srebrenica for three days and were involved in activities as part of the commemoration of July 11.

The Srebrenica Memorial Center continues to be a place of meeting, dialogue, and education, providing a platform for discussion on difficult but important topics.

This visit is another step towards building a common future based on truth.
