Milorad's and Milijana's trumpets play between lies and secession: What happens when Sarajevo says enough!?

By: Rasim Belko @rasimbelko

Two posts in two days in the regime-controlled “Glas srpske” best illustrate the goals of the current policy in the smaller BiH entity, Republika Srpska.

Thus, in a Sunday column (January 5), Milijana Latinović explains how January 9 is the birthday of Republika Srpska, which was “defended with blood and that Srpska celebrates wishing for peace and only peace, not wars, striving for progress and prosperity for all its inhabitants regardless of religious, national or any other affiliation, because under its flag there is and always has been room for everyone ready for peace, work, progress and unity”.

And what is meant by unity, prosperity and peace is best demonstrated by the thousands of white monuments in Srebrenica, Prijedor, Žepa, Foča and other areas across Bosnia and Herzegovina. What Milijana's “heroes” meant by unity, peace and prosperity is shown by the verdicts for genocide, joint criminal enterprise, and the entire spectrum of war crimes against the non-Serb population.

And Milijana is right when she says that RS is “created for eternity”, because as long as people walk in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the white monuments of its victims, as well as the numerous verdicts against the criminals who led that Srpska, will eternally prove the monstrosity and fascism of that policy.

Just as today, grandmothers and grandfathers, whose sons and daughters were killed by RS, testify about the peacetime, and I would say, institutional persecution of Bosniaks and Croats in RS. Every year, the statistics on attacks against the non-Serb population and their property in RS are equally filled. And rarely, if ever, do these attacks reach a judicial epilogue. This is the unity that Milijana attributes to us from her role models, who, as she says, “defended RS”, although it is unclear how the siege of Sarajevo, Bihać and Goražde, or the genocide and massacre of the majority Srebrenica, defended “Serbdom and Srpska”.

And perhaps I wouldn't be writing all this if Milijana, in the style of a mentor from Dobrica Ćosić's school, hadn't concluded her text in the following way: “Because of all this, we must not allow our children not to know the truth, not to know when their country was created, not to know that their ancestors went to war because they had to defend their homes so that they could have a more carefree childhood today, not because they wanted that war”.

And Ćosić long ago wrote about lies as a Serbian curse. Milijana is just proof that confirms the rule, or rather, builds upon the “truths” of Risto Đogo and similar megaphones of murderers who created what is “a land for eternity” for Milijana on the bones of the non-Serb population.

And that there is no fundamental difference between the butchers of that time and the policies that lead the entity of RS today was shown by the interview of the hysterical Milorad Dodik, who, despite his doctors at the General Hospital telling him to rest, gathered his strength and sent a political message to the entire public before Christmas.

And in his message, Dodik says: “There were pressures regarding property, but we managed to stop them. We are not naive to think that this is the end, but we believe that everyone has realized that this group will not allow the expropriation of property and is ready to go all the way. And as for that end, for them, for us it is a political goal. And that is the independence and autonomy of Republika Srpska. And everyone has realized that”.

That's right, Milorad, although perhaps not everyone, because your partners in state government have not stopped believing in the European Dodik, but every patriot of Bosnia and Herzegovina has long understood what the ultimate goal is for you, and for the policy from RS in general.

Only, Milorad, it seems that you, and your journalist Milijana, have not realized that there is no independence without bloodshed, just as those para-formations then and entities today would not exist if the JNA had not transformed into the Army of Serbia and, with paramilitary groups and volunteers, massacred an unarmed population.

Today, Milorad, the situation is much, incomparably different. So either you will slow down with the talk of secession, although I think you are realistically politically dead, or those who are ready to confront even the very announcements and threats of secession will come to the political scene.

Because, Milorad, for thirty years you and the policy you represent, which is rooted in the policy of Radovan Karadžić, a Hague convict, have been threatening secession, undermining the system and the constitutional and legal order of the independent and internationally recognized state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For too long, Milorad Dodik, your Milijanas, Kecmanović and the like have been sowing seeds of discord and announcing secession. True, for too long, policies in Sarajevo have not taken you seriously, but the time is not far when a voice will come from Sarajevo saying enough is enough, and then you will either truly be faced with the necessity of attempting secession or you will be extinguished, along with RS.

Because, even the Catalan separatists stormed with announcements for years, and when they thought they were strong enough, they were extinguished for the long term, as were their dreams of independence.

Soon, Milorad, those who will extinguish your dreams will come, so don't fool yourselves, neither you nor Milijana, because if we are talking about eternity, one of the few Balkan eternities in terms of duration is Bosnia and Herzegovina. And you, no matter how big you are, are a small ant compared to those who tried to extinguish that eternity.
