
(Patria) - President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović has convened an emergency session of the Security and Defence Council for today at 6 PM at Villa Gorica, due to the dramatic situation caused by the spread of fires across the country.
In addition to the members of the Council, the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Defence, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro, and the Director of the Police Administration have been invited to the session, it was announced from his cabinet.
"President Milatović spoke this morning with the President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, after which a Croatian Canadair arrived in Montenegro. He also thanked the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, for the support sent by Serbia.
Later in the day, he also spoke with Radmila Šekerinska, Deputy Secretary General of NATO. She informed the President that the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) has been activated - NATO's main mechanism for civil emergency response, through which a request for urgent assistance has been sent to member states.
Montenegro must take all measures in a coordinated manner to protect citizens' lives, their property, and the country's natural resources," the statement said.
