(Patria) - Croatian President Zoran Milanović has decided to cancel the Brdo-Brijuni Process meeting. Milanović believes that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić should not come to Croatia, reported the President's Office.
"The Republic of Croatia and the Republic of Slovenia, as members of the European Union, initiated the Brdo-Brijuni Process with the aim of improving mutual cooperation and accelerating the European integration process of Southeast European countries. The meeting of the heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process was supposed to be held in Croatia in May this year.
The political statements and actions of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, which we have witnessed in recent days and weeks, are in complete opposition to the goals of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, they damage interstate relations and threaten peace and stability in the Southeast European region. The President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, believes that under such circumstances, the conditions are not met and the arrival of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to the Republic of Croatia is not possible.
As co-chair of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, President Milanović has decided to cancel the planned meeting in Croatia, and the heads of state who were supposed to participate in the meeting in Brijuni have been informed. The next meeting of the heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process will be held when the conditions are met, and after consultations between President Milanović and the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc-Musar, as co-chairs of the Brdo-Brijuni Process," the statement reads.
