Milanović calls for National Security Council session due to hacker attacks, government says it's unnecessary

(Patria) - After Russian hackers attacked companies Badel and Labud and demanded ransom for stolen data, the Croatian state leadership has commented on the matter.

President Zoran Milanović has called for a session of the National Security Council, RTL reports.

"Frequent cyber attacks on state institutions and companies are certainly another additional reason – besides all the reasons the President of the Republic has already spoken about publicly several times – for a meeting of the National Security Council," stated the Office of the President of Croatia.

Unofficially, messages are coming from the Government that there is no need for this, as the competent services are doing their job.

Let us recall, after the attack was detected on its X profile by the platform HackManac, which monitors cyber attacks worldwide, Badel also confirmed everything.

"It is likely that a small part of business documentation was unauthorizedly copied, and consequently, unauthorized access to business and personal data, which are a usual part of such documentation.

Immediately after identifying the incident, activities were undertaken to recover compromised systems, prevent further unauthorized access to the computer infrastructure, and conduct forensic analysis," they explained.

Badel also stated that their business processes are proceeding without interruption.

Let us recall that last week, other Croatian institutions, as well as KBC Zagreb, were also targeted by hackers.
