Milanović: A coup d'état is being prepared, Plenković is the godfather of corruption

(Patria) - The Constitutional Court of Croatia announced today that the President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, cannot be the mandatary for the formation of the government, even if he resigns from the presidential office. However, Milanović says that the Constitutional Court cannot do anything about this issue.

Milanović held a press conference and stated that, first and foremost, he wants to calm down the citizens who are angry and who, as he claims, are numerous.

"What they heard from the Constitutional Court today is what the Constitutional Court can say. However, it cannot do anything. The elections are over, the elections ended according to the will of the citizens as they ended," he said.

He also stated that the Croatian Parliament, with the majority of all representatives, can elect whomever it wants as mandatary, and that there is no legal remedy against it.

"I would not completely agree with what many have said today, and will say, that this is a coup d'état. This is preparation for a coup d'état. This is a kind of preliminary action so that tomorrow Plenković, the godfather of corruption in Croatia, when he needs to leave Banski dvori, says that he has a decision from the Constitutional Court and that he does not want to do it. That is the danger," he said.

He emphasized that the Constitutional Court, which he called so-called, is not above the Parliament.

He stated that with the constitution of the Parliament, the highest authority in the country is assumed, and that during that period there is a technical government without legitimacy.

"After that, we have a Parliament that can pass laws, annul Turudić, Plenković's private law, change this strange election law. I will not participate in that because I will probably not go to elections anymore, I have no personal interest in this. I guarantee HDZ that they will have at least one Speaker of Parliament, even though I do not decide on that. But the Speaker (of Parliament). Maybe I am superfluous here. Maybe I am optimal, maybe I am too much. I will respect the Constitution. Only the one who has 76 signatures will get the mandate," Milanović pointed out.
