(Patria) - President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović spoke today about the war in Ukraine. He adds that Ukraine is a story that needs to be monitored 24 hours a day. He also spoke about Kosovo, which Croatia recognised in March 2008.
"That needs to be pulled out. In principle, I am against sending resources there. People are dying there, and there is no plan," he said.
He emphasised that some in the European Parliament talk about "tearing Russia apart," and that this is insane.
"We and the Serbs did not hate each other that much. That madness, if you cannot stop it, step away, because it will spill over onto you. I have mentally prepared myself for the fact that we will be reduced to the status of clowns. HDZ has made us that way, but I will not allow us to become circus poodles, which some are trying to make of us," he said.
He emphasised that the stakes in the war between Russia and Ukraine are high and that neither side can back down.
"This is dangerous, and I have been saying this for a year now, since the attack on Ukraine. From 2014 to 2022, we watched as someone provoked Russia with the intention of starting this war. It started. A year has passed, and we are only now talking about tanks. We will send all German tanks there, the Russian ones have burned. The same fate awaits these others," the Croatian president added.
"This is not a question of morality, where people who were playful pacifists in dresses yesterday now want to tear people apart. The solution is not a change of government in Russia. German tanks in Kharkiv will bring them closer to the Chinese.
What is being done is not good," he warned.
President of the Republic Zoran Milanović commented on the situation in Kosovo.
"This calls into question the entire concept, in which someone thinks they have the right. Likewise Crimea - Crimea will never again be Ukraine. That is what leading German generals say. We are entering deeper and deeper into a conflict with a superpower. Do you know how they ultimately lose a war? By using nuclear weapons," Milanović said.
"Serbia and Russia are not the same. That is unfortunately a painful fact and a danger. We annexed Kosovo. We and the international community. It was taken from Serbia. Who did that if not us? Did we recognise Kosovo? It is not annexation, but seizure. What is that called? Extraction. It is not a neck, but a throat. This does not call Kosovo into question, but the entire concept," he said.
He emphasised that Russia is a dangerous country.
"You understand nothing. You compare the Serbs, these peasants who rebelled here, with a world nuclear superpower. I see what is happening, how insane emotions are leading Europe into something it will not be able to handle. Ukrainians pathologically hate Russians, that is a fact. Croats did not hate Serbs as much as these people hate Russians," he said.
He pointed out that Russia will not allow itself to lose the war; if necessary, it will resort to nuclear weapons.
"The question is how much we will help Ukraine. This is not help, this is torment. They should have been forced to the negotiating table. Three hundred thousand Ukrainians have to die. It breaks my heart to watch this. It is about the fact that those who are pushing them to this are watching from cities that are not at war. They know they are safe, their cities will not burn. This is Armageddon, I am not a believer, but I have read about it," Milanović said.
